Obama’s Win NOT a Win For Democrats

November 5, 2008

Barack Obama

I voted for Barack Obama.

But, in the aftermath of the 2008 election, expert analysts and commentators are calling this a huge win for Democrats… in the House, in the Senate, and in the Presidency.

I respectfully disagree.

Why?

I’m not a Democrat… nor am I a Republican. In fact, this year was the first year I chose to vote. And, among my family and circle of friends, I’m not the only one who can say that.

And, to me, this is how Barack Obama won the election… with the promise of bi-partisan politics and solutions that put the American dream AHEAD of partisan affiliation - which secured him the votes of independent, non-partisan, and first-time voters who desperately WANT the change he’s promised.

So, while, the analysts and commentators play up the huge win for Democrats, there’s an underlying hidden independent, non-partisan, demographic watching and waiting… waiting to see if the reality of President Elect Obama’s presidency lives up to the promises of his campaign.

Obama’s win is historical in many ways… but, as Barack, himself, said in his acceptance speech, the journey is only just beginning. Only time will tell if its a journey worth taking.
